Inspiring STEM through a unique challenge: to design, build and race an electric kit car.

DESIGN

The Project will focus on learning and using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop The Kit Car’s bodywork, specifically on its overall design and aerodynamics.

ASSEMBLY

The Race Team (young engineers) will assemble The Kit Car chassis and components using detailed instructions and support from The Project Team (adult volunteers).

BUILD

Once the chassis and components are installed and the bodywork design is complete The Race Team will then build the bodywork. Shaping and forming the chosen materials of construction.

RACE

The Project Team will help with transport of the The Kit Car to race events. The Race Team (young engineers) are then responsible for driving The Kit Car and any pit stop work or maintenance.

Greenpower Education Trust

Greenpower Education Trust are a UK based charity with an outstanding track record in kick starting careers in engineering. They help unlock potential and spark enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through the excitement of motorsport.
Greenpower events are open to teams of students aged 9 to 25 who are responsible for all activities at the race event, and supported by volunteers to realise their vision for a winning vehicle. The Greenpower challenges have three categories:
IET Formula Goblin (ages 9 – 11)
IET Formula 24 (ages 11 – 16)
IET Formula 24+ (ages 16 – 25)
We will be focussing on the IET Formula 24 and Young Engineers aged between 11 and 16.
