Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What age do my children need to be to take part?

The Greenpower race events cover 9 – 25 year olds, we are focusing on IET Formula 24 race category that spans ages 11 – 16. If your child is over the age of 16 we would love for them to be a mentor and come along to the weekend workshop sessions. If your child is under 11 they can also come along to the weekend workshop sessions, however, we ask that they are accompanied by an adult at all times.

Where and when do you meet?

We meet weekly on Sunday mornings, 10am to 12am at the Pro-Tech MOT and Automotive Academy, near Burton on Trent.

How do I sign up and how long for?

There is no commitment, just come along! If you’re interested, please contact us at info@hf24.co.uk

Are your adults DBS checked?

The workshop and classroom leads all have Enhanced DBS checks.

Does it cost anything to participate?

HF24 is a ‘not for profit educational enterprise’ that just needs to cover it’s costs, which we seek to realise through sponsorship. Our weekly workshops are free to come along to. On race weekends we ask that families pay for their own travel costs and accommodations.

Do you have insurance and first aiders if anything happens?

HF24 has Public Liability Insurance and several of the volunteers are first aiders. A first aid kit is located at the workshop and a second kit will be taken to race days with the cars.

DofE/UCAS

Attendance at the workshop sessions can be used as part of your Duke of Edinburgh scheme. We are currently looking into aligning ourselves with the Crest Awards which would enable participants to gain UCAS points whilst taking part in the project.

Do you need to be an engineer to take part?

No, we aim to support and include all young people who have an interest in STEM and racing, regardless of experience.

STEM Outreach Programme

We are launching a broader STEM outreach programme, designed to bring our workshop model and racing experience to as many local students as we can across Derbyshire and and the surrounding region. The aim is to give students a portfolio of skills and a record of achievement in design, prototyping, electronics, racing and teamwork.

I am an adult. Can I still get involved?

Of course! Our adult volunteers help keep the weekly sessions running smoothly. If you’re interested in helping, please contact us at info@hf24.co.uk
